Do you think creativity is important, or is it just nice to have?
I feel human creativity matters a lot in everyone's life. Art is not a luxury; it's actually sustenance. It's not just nice to have it; it's vital in the society. Its the way we heal each other .In singing our song, in telling our story, showing any form of art, inviting each other to see each other's creativity, and starting a dialogue, sharing it with the wider world is exchanging your thoughts, your imaginations, your writing. When an artist writes a song and you connect with the song, it's part of the healing in society. We start to witness each other's common humanity, and we start healing. So, art is vital; it's needed in society.
In general, people are creative, but when creativity becomes vital, we start connecting to our inner self, and for many, it starts to heal parts of themselves they didn't know existed. For me, art has been a journey of finding many questions and connecting to my own self.
i always refer to the phrase 'i am my own muse , the subject i know the best' until i met my muse some 8 years ago in the form of miracle, my son Naman.
I had never thought my whole perspective about life would change this much after having him. Life is not straight; it's not always flowers and dances and happily ever after. It is indeed beautiful, but it's unpredictable.
Sometimes, it's hard to get out of bed, while other times, you find yourself jumping on the bed with excitement and adrenaline rush for some reason. It's not the same for everyone. The same thing can be interpreted so differently by each person, which fascinates me. And that's why art has become vital for me. I started engaging with more art after becoming a mother, when I was trying to rediscover many lost parts of myself, or perhaps trying to make sense of it all. But it truly became a part of me when we both started joining each other in various activities. He brought excitement and freshness every day. I began to discover and find many answers through him.
It's been amazing; we have our own world where we paint however we want. It's beautiful and somewhat predictable in its unpredictability. We can create flowers and dance the whole night, and it won't change. It's an alternate world, our own realm. It's the world of me and my muse, who charges and inspires me every day, who makes me believe in miracles, magic, fairies, and alternate realities. It's a world of no judgments, a world of innocence and learning every day. It's an evolving journey, where we live, love, laugh, dream, and more.
I hope we find this vital part of ourselves every day and never forget it amidst the daily hustle of real life.
There's a story behind this painting, a beautiful imagination. I asked him why he painted this, and he said it's a painting of happy times and evenings we spent together; that's how time is marked in his mind. And now that spring is here, we'll have evenings like those again. I asked him if he misses summers, and he said, ‘Hmm, no I like all seasons. I'm so lucky I get to see and enjoy them all.’ And that's my everyday thought, embedded in my mind - how simple it is, BE WHERE YOUR FEET ARE ~ Feel it all, be in the moment, wherever you are ;)
On that note, I just hope we all find our muse every day and stick with it for however long we can, and think of art as a vital part of our lives, even in the smallest possible way, if possible.
